www.naturalawakenings.com/2021/01/29/342974/plastic-particles-ingested-in-food-and-water “Researchers at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, estimate people that drink bottled water ingest an additional 90,000 microplastic particles annually compared to 4,000 microplastics for those that drink only tap water. Food is contaminated with plastic as well, which we also ingest. The researchers took data from 26 studies that measured plastic in salt, beer, sugar, fish, shellfish, water and urban air, and combined it with U.S. dietary guidelines to calculate how many particles people likely consumed annually. The results are 50,000 particles per year for adults and 40,000 for children. When inhalation is included, the estimate rises to between 74,000 and 121,000 particles per year for adults. Even these figures are likely underestimated, because the foods in the studies make up only 15 percent of the typical American caloric intake. The particles’ effect on the human body is not yet understood. Another study revealed that some plastic is expelled from the body in feces. But there is also evidence that it gets absorbed, and that the tiniest particles can enter the bloodstream and lymphatic system, which could affect immune response and aid transmission of toxic chemicals.” My notes: More microplastics being ingested.

Scary and i've never understood why people buy bottled water anyway when the majority of us have taps with fresh water running out of them

Yeah, a lot of the countries in the West tend to have good water so there really is no point in buying plastic bottled water all the time. Such a waste and unnecessary use of plastic.

We have a filter tap on our kitchen water tap, not good enough to drink without being filtered.

I recently suffered with the stomach issues. And so the plastic bottle water which was causing the infection was supposed to be asked to remove from the routine of the drinking the water. So the plastic bottled water is supposed to be avoided.

We have a 2 stage water purifier system at home. That is not everything, but let us hope it will work well.

Do those plastic bottles include any made from corn instead of petroleum based products? We keep bottled water around because we live in the country and to drive anywhere is about a half hour at least so it's nice to bring a bottle of water along for some of our trips out to do shopping or whatever. We have good tasting well water here where I live but I still use a big tupperware type container of water in the fridge so I can have really cold water whenever I want.

I would think they'd be talking about the petroleum based ones. We have well water too. The plastic used to make water bottles is not as sturdy as harder plastic, so it's best to use a denser plastic for water. Stainless steel is another option.

It was safer when we had glass bottles.

I think those copper bottles are going to be hype again. Now that since the pandemic many people have stomach related issues. I think copper and the steel bottles are going to be in demand too.

We don't buy bottled water. We just reuse our Contigo water bottles.

The plastic water bottles and plastic food packages contain BPA, a toxic chemical. It is best to avoid plastic utensils and plastic-packaged food. Let's switch to carrying out food in a glass or metal boxes.

ellyfant, Here most rich people use bottled water and think they are drinking good water than tap water. I even though bottled water was good for health, but from above article it is bad and tap water should be used. How about children carrying tap water in the water bottle to the school? Is this also harmful for them

I don't drink anything from plastic because it's gross. I stopped buying Snapple when they stopped using glass bottles.
